THE SYMPHONIC CHORUS

Since 1946, the Huntsville Community Chorus has provided North Alabama with a rich variety of musical artistry, especially through its musical flagship Symphonic Chorus. With more than 150 auditioned voices packing the rehearsal room, TheChorus includes people from all over north Alabama, from CEOs to students, music teachers, homemakers, engineers, and even a few rocket scientists!

TheChorus rehearses on Monday nights (August through April) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. We present 2–3 concerts a season, as well as performing with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra during the year. Our repertoire includes great choral works from every period of music, including the great choral/orchestral masterworks, complex jazz works, fun arrangements of popular music, and new cutting edge favorites from modern composers such as Whitacre and Lauridsen. We love to collaborate with other musical groups —recent concerts have included guests such as the Irish band SlipJig, Huntsville’s Olde Town Brass, the jazz sextet Watters-Felts Project, Oakwood University’s Aeolians, the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, and other amazing soloists and ensembles from across the region.  We have performed in churches, schools, the Concert Hall of the Von Braun Center, and the Space and Rocket Center.

Join us this season—you won't be disappointed!

The Symphonic Chorus is directed by Artistic Director Dr. Ian Loeppky and Associate Artistic Director Dr. Michael Weinberg, with principal accompanist Eric Wilson.
